The Nettle Collection

Heirloom                      Stinging Nettle

Stinging nettle, also simply known as ‘nettle’ or 'wild nettle', has not only been used in ancient Europe as a food during early spring when other foods were scarce but has also been used as a nutritive tonic for lactating mothers to boost milk production. In our region of the Caribbean we traditionally use the nettle for hair growth.

Our CEO tells a story of having fell into a nettle patch unknowingly as a child and having to do what she calls the 'itch dance' all the way home. Luckily when she got there her mother knew just what to do to get the itch to stop immediately.

It grows wild around our home and the surrounding area and because of its rich mineral, protein and vitamin content in addition to it being antibacterial, antifungal and possessing growth generation properties when used for hair care it became a feature ingredient in our hair care line as it penetrates the scalp to work from the inside out.

Stinging nettle has actually been used since ancient times as a hair loss

restorative, helping to prevent the hormone testosterone from being converted to DHT, which accumulates in the hair follicles and is known to be a primary cause of both male and female pattern baldness. It is rich in iron & silica both elements known to combat hair loss, prevent hair shedding and encourage hair growth.

The nettle is also known to as an astringent and thus helps to reduce and balance oily scalp and hair. It is naturally conditioning and detangling while adding shine and reducing frizz even as it strengthens the hair follicle, shaft and strands thus preventing easy breakage and damage while also improving circulation in the scalp thus ensuring nutrient rich blood flow which encourages hair strength and promotes healthy, smooth, shiny hair.

Perfect for our beauties who love to braid their hair, nettle works to eliminate dandruff and flaky scalp and soothe irritated itchy scalp.

We pair the nettle with the hibiscus to create a powerhouse set to help you repair and rebuild damage hair as well as maintain the hair you have.
